Susy, the vast majority of family caregiver do not get paid for caring for a loved one.... unless your father can pay you from his own retirement fund. If he can, then it would be important to drawn up an employment agreement.

Now, if your father can qualify for Medicaid [which is different from Medicare] and depending on what State you reside, maybe, just maybe your State has a program via Medicaid where you could earn some income.... note, the pay could be minimal. There might be a waiting list.
