Dementia is a terrible disease for everyone involved. However, there are moments where you have to smile in the middle of this incredibly difficult journey. I am not making light of situations but thought I would share a funny moment.

My mom began to forget my father’s name. They were married almost 50 years. He died in 1999. One day I was showing her pictures of him and asked her if she remember who she was married to.

She paused and said “was his name Andy Griffith”?

Now that made me smile. (We had only watched that show 100,000 times).

Hope this makes you smile.

I think we'd all be lost if we couldn't smile at moments like this.

That put a smile on my face, as we watch Andy for several hours every evening. My SO of almost 50 years has late stage Lewy Body dementia and the old shows like Andy Griffith and Golden Girls are our go to shows.
Thank you for posting this 😁

Well I need to get a picture of Mathew McConaughey, and maybe I will think he is my husband, someday. 🤠

Delightful! Perhaps he was her secret crush.

Loved it!
so sweet.

MY DH aunt 97, always quips when watching Andy Griffith. “He has the best writers”

She doesn’t remember her husband either. She’s mostly interested in chocolate these days.

Thanks for sharing.
