, 58 year old husband with dementia and leg amputation, 3 or 4 am is not easy. He never makes it time because of stokes he had, cleaning is sometimes an hour long process, then it is time to get ready for work!!!!!

Yes he does wear depends and no stool softener...thanks for the input

Does your husband wear Depends? Putting him in Depends and putting down a chucks pad beneath him might cut down on the clean up time. Make sure you use the Depends with the side tabs as opposed to the kind that slide on like underwear.

Does your husband take a stool softener? Adjusting the time when he gets it might help. Giving it in the morning might work better than if he gets it at night.

If these things haven't worked talk to his Dr. about changing your husband's bowel habits. The Dr. might be able to prescribe medication that will keep you from having to get up at 3 or 4am. That sounds brutal.
