Habitat for Humanity and Christmas in April both help homeowners. Local senior centers may have some help or could advise you of companies that may volunteer or provide senior discount rates.

Some local communities used to get HUD funds for emergency, minor and/or health issue repairs. Contact your city, township or other municipality and ask about this.

txhurricane, I always believe that if someone needs financial help with home repairs, then it is time to downsize and move into a more affordable housing. Better to sell now then find yourself in a money pit of repairs that are never ending... that is no way to spend your golden years.

I'm so sorry all that happened in your life. It may well be time for you to investigate assisted living. They have soon many nice ones with plenty to do and staff to watch out for you.

Wendy's right, though.

Most localities have an agency such as a commission on aging or senior services. Check in your phone book or on line to see what services and referrals might be offered in your area.
