Medicare does not cover, don't qualify for Medicaid. I am disabled. Spouse doesn't drive. I have contacted state and local agencies. Resources to pay for wheelchair van out of pocket are running out. Live in Stafford, VA.

Find Care & Housing
Contact the local public transit agency in the largest city near you, as well as the local Senior Center. Transit agencies often have point to point services which are very reasonable ($1.00 within a 10 mile radius in my area). The smaller buses are usually equipped with lifts for wheelchair access.

Sometimes Senior Centers have arrangements with the public transit agencies to provide transportation for seniors in their geographic jurisdiction.

And do ask someone at the Dialysis Center; they probably deal with this issue on a regular basis.

I found this very handy list of what Medicare would and would not cover. https://www.medicare.gov/coverage/is-your-test-item-or-service-covered.html and click on "Ambulance services" to see if maybe your spouse might be able to qualify. Also click on "Dialysis (kidney) services & supplies".

Have you discussed this with the social worker at the dialysis center. He/she may have some specifics for your community. Wishing you the best.
