Find Care & Housing
We have gotten this question here a lot lately. As Alva says repairs are very expensive. I just paid over 1000 for new breaks and a belt. You may find somebody who will donate their labor but you will need to pay for the parts. As suggested, call your office Office of Aging. But IMO, cars are expensive to keep up and if there comes a time you can't afford a car, you need to find other options to get you from A to B. May be time to check out Senior bussing in your area.

That I know of, there is no help. I was just reading the other day that, while car costs are quite stable at present in terms of recent inflation numbers, the cost of repair is through the roof, and gone are the cars that any neighborhood kid could work on in your driveway at the weekend.
I would call your local council on aging and see if there are any car repair folk in your area who will give a good deal to seniors. Wishing you luck.
