Can hospice help with disabled sister living alone

Find Care & Housing
Hospice is end of life care. The family does all the work.
Aide comes maybe 2x a week to bathe. A nurse 1x a week.

Does sister get Medicaid health insurance? If she does, call her case worker and ask if she can be evaluated for in home services. If she does not receive Medicaid, contact Social Services and ask about Medicaid for in home help. Call Office of Aging.

If she qualifies for Hospice then Hospice can help SOME.
Supplies will be ordered and delivered.
A CNA will come 2 times a week to give her a bath or a shower. The CNA will order personal supplies.
A Nurse will come 1 time a week (more often if it is needed) and the Nurse will check her and order medical supplies.
Your sister can request a Volunteer that can help 1 day a week (more if there are Volunteers available) but the Volunteer can do no "hands on" care. And the time would be limited to about 3 or 4 hours.
BUT if at any time the Hospice Team feels that it is unsafe for your sister to be living alone without a full time caregiver they can tell her that a caregiver is needed or they can withdraw services if they feel it is unsafe.

Not really unless your sister has been deemed to be dead in 6 months or less. And even then the hospice nurse will only come once a week to start to just check her vitals and order any medications needed, and an aide will come about twice a week to bathe her, but other than that your sister will be on her own.
It might be best instead that you help your sister find the right nursing facility for her to move into, and if money is an issue you can help her apply for Medicaid.
