Sixty years is an incredible life together! I can’t imagine your sense of loss. I hope you’ll reach out to your pastor and ask for connection with others at the church who may be of help and counsel to you. I wish you peace and comfort

Yes! My husband that we shared our lives together for 60 years. He went septic a year ago. What followed was months of agony for him and our family. Hospitals, nursing home, very potent drugs which made him out of his mind, many medications. After three months I brought him home and cared for him. He was improving slowly, advancing with Baycare home health. It was wonderful having him home again. Then he had a gallbladder attack which was horrible. Got through that surgery. It was just a very long struggle thinking he would walk again some day. He was able to walk in December but never was able to really walk without pain and shortness of breath. The end of March he just started to get worse and declined rapidly. He went to be with the Lord on May 21. Now I feel so empty and lonely.

Some ministers have been trained to "grief counsel". Some Churches have groups. If LO was on hospice, they have grief counselling. Your County Office of Aging may have resources.

If LO is not deceased but suffers with Dementia/ALZ and you are grieving the loss of the person they were, same thing O of A or maybe a Church group.

Thank you for responding. I feel so lonely. We’ve been here for three years and haven’t really gotten acquainted with many people. We did join a church but didn’t have the time to really get involved because he got sick.
