He was very active and transported cars in his retirement. He is 76, his heart is only working on 25% and he suffers from diabetes. After an accident in Oct. he is confined to his home. No strength, not with it most days. He sits home and has no interest. My sister his wife is not a compassionite person. she tries but smothers him and makes him feel like a child. There has to be something I can do to make him have some kind of a life then sitting home waiting to die. I do work full time. I know I have to do something. Any advice or suggestions appreciated?

Find Care & Housing
Are there times each week that you could stay with him so your sister could get a break, go out and do something alone or with a friend? Then you can sit and talk with him about old times, or play cards, or watch a comedy and laugh with him, or look through scrapbooks.

Often a caregiver can have a more realistic perspective if she has a little respite from the constant duties.
