He seems to void up the back or down a side. He wears 2-depends one front/back. I put 2 pull up depends on. one with pad facing front, one toward the back, an extra pad in front. Rubber pants. Nothing seems to help. I have been getting him up every three to four hours and inevitabley I am too late at some point. He stops drinking by 6-7pm. He wets whichever side he lies on or if he is on his back the whole back is wet.I have a vinyl mattress pad and cover pad on the bed. It is a problem keeping his pjs dry. Thanks any ideas, please!

It sounds like your dad has become incontinent. I see on your profile that he has Alzheimer's. This may be the next phase of the illness and there may be no way to keep him dry at night anymore. I'm afraid you're fighting a losing battle.

In my experience Depends are not the most absorbent option out there, for us Tena is better, and then there are the super absorbency one you seem to have to buy on line or at specialty stores. This is a topic that has come up on the site frequently, try searching "most absorbent adult diapers", there are too many threads to post them all.
