Please be careful to evaluate news reports. For example: who reported the deaths in Norway? Can the statement be reliably confirmed? Were there autopsies to determine cause? I can think of a situation where a neighbor wondered why so many patients of a particular visiting nurse were dying.....turns out these were people with terminal cancer and she worked for a hospice organization.
Hello. Thank you for your response. Sorry I don’t know how to post the link here but the Norway report is legitimate per their health authority and yes, autopsies were done. They performed autopsies on the reported deaths at the nursing home that were attributed to the vaccine and found that 11 out of the deaths were FROM the vaccine. The other deaths were not CAUSED by the vaccine. However... what they found out was that these patients had severe side effects from the vaccine which pushed them over the edge to death. So, I’m afraid for my frail elderly 94 year old mother. Why rush her death? Then again, she might do just fine with the vaccine. There is no way to know. For now, we’re erring on the side of caution. Make sense? Again, thank you!
catcoker - yes, there are deaths due to the COVID vaccines, but those news reports are being censored by the news media and social media, thus people don't hear much about the deaths.
Fox News had a report on the number of deaths due to the vaccines being higher than ALL the deaths caused by other vaccines since 1997, yet social media block that and won't let people see. As of the report date of April this year, there were 3722 deaths. I don't know how many of those were elderly. My guess is that most of them were since the elderly were the first few groups to get the vaccines. Here's the link to the report.
I know some posters will be up in arms reading my post because the vaccines are safe for the vast majority of people. That certainly should be promoted but censoring the news about the deaths is still wrong. People should know the risks however small and decide for themselves.
Yes the censoring is disturbing. Plus all the giveaways to get vaccinated are equally disturbing. People forget that these vaccines are emergency use only and are exempt from the rigors of FDA testing for that very reason.
The risk/benefit analysis comes down clearly on the side of covid-19 vaccines (particularly the mRNA ones), IMHO.
I remember months earlier when (a few) posters would flaunt the covid-19 safety protocols, insisting that covid-19 is no big deal. I never quite understood how they could deny all the sickness and death that has happened.
Lol one could make the argument that most of the people that died of covid didn't die from covid but an underlying health condition. Same with yearly deaths from the flu. In the early stages if covid hospitals were responsible for killing many patients because of the ventilators. My uncle had a stroke the same day he received the second vaccine shot. Kids are getting myocarditis from the vaxx and women have gotten blood clots and died. But doctors will do everything possible not to attribute any side effects to this vaxx. And the vaccine does not stop anyone from getting covid. You will be getting a booster in the fall and every year from now on. It is all about money for something that has a mortality rate of about 1%
All I can say is that my 91-year-old mother had Covid in January and was asymptomatic. However, post-Covid, she's having bleeding issues her hospice nurse says she's only seen in three patients, all of whom have had Covid. My mother has had to be taken off her blood thinner medicine, and she still will have large (3-4") blood blisters pop up on her legs overnight for no reason. These blisters eventually rupture and become gaping open wounds that have had to be treated multiple times weekly for months at a time. We fight off infection every day, and I'm sure one day we'll lose the war.
The Covid shot may be frightening, but I guarantee you, Covid itself is worse for an already frail body. My mother could have avoided all this had the roll-out not been such a bungle here, but when her nursing home finally got their shots a month after they were supposed to, Mom was actively sick with it.
Keep in mind that millions of people your mother's age have had the shots with no issues. Focusing on a very few who did makes little sense in my opinion.
The frail elderly may have been going to die in any case. There have yet been few proven cases of any vaccine caused deaths in any country. Dying after vaccine doesn't mean dying OF vaccine. And let us assume that this number DID die of a direct result of the vaccine. How may would have died of covid without it? These things are very difficult to ascertain with any certainty. You must read and educate yourself, speak with your doctor, and make your own decisions. I will to the last to judge anyone making a decision for themselves. I am vaccinated. (And yes it is PROVEN that you can get covid after vaccine, but you are often without symptoms and almost never hospitalized with it). So being vaccinated I don't much care WHO has it and who does not. As with all medical decisions, speak with the doctor; make your decision; and on you go.
Third, there are different vaccines being offered in different countries. Yet, in the posts I have read on this thread, everyone has referred to Vaccine, but not which one.
My take on all this. If you are healthy and have no underlying conditions, why not get the vaccine?
If your health is compromised, talk to your doctor, not random strangers online. My brother in law is waiting for a heart transplant and has just had treatment for skin cancer, his doctors told him it was beneficial for him to get vaccinated. I do not know which one he had, but he is fully vaccinated.
My Dad is 92, had a stroke 6 years ago, he is fully vaccinated.
My son ran a fever and felt rotten for 3 days after each of his Moderna shots. I have had one Pfizer one and was freezing cold, no fever for 3 days. I will get my second shot in 2 weeks. My son and I are both red heads and know from experience that we sometimes react differently to medications.
My LO had two different symptomatic Covid infections, and she looks and acts better now, both vaccines later, than she did before she had the first Covid infection.
I am pained that ANYONE has suffered IN ANY WAY from Covid, it’s after effects OR vaccination issues, but we all have choices and are making them.
I pray daily for “Those who suffer”. My Covid list has gotten too long to name.
I don't know of any personally other than what I've heard about on the news, but my friends friend in Myrtle Beach S.C., had a massive stroke 3 days after getting her 2nd vaccine, and she was told by her Dr. and the nurse that they were confident it was caused by the vaccine. She went from being a healthy women, to someone who now cannot walk, talk, or do much for herself. My friend is heartbroken for her friend. I also heard the other day that 14 year old boy died of a heart attack after receiving the vaccine. It now has been proven to cause heart issues in young boys/men, and the CDC has put out articles about that. I personally find it rather scary.
The Delta variant is way way more easily transmitted. And that is what is going to spread across the US like wildfire this Fall. Watch & wait…
Football season is going to be petrie dishes for Covid accross the South this Fall as the southern states vaxx rates are low. Then it fans out yo rest of US. It’s gonna be ugly and it’s totally preventable.
The 2 shot mRNA vaxx - Pfizer & Moderna - have shown to be the best at reducing your catching Covid or having a hospitalization needed should you get COVID. And the mRNA are effective against the Delta. It takes 8 weeks to be fully covered. After the first shot you’re at I think 60% coverage. So you have to get shot #2 and then 2 weeks afterwards for immunity to be set. So if y’all get your first this week & next, then your second in Aug, you both should have as full coverage as possible currently by Labor Day.
I’d suggest that mom gets hers first this week. The first shot for everyone I’ve been around, has had no to minimal side effects. Like a sore arm. Then you get yours next week. It’s the 2nd that might have side effects. Like a low fever and general malaise for 2 days. Maybe diarrhea. The side effects almost seem to have a time clock on them… like you feel tired the next day, then lite fever the next night into the next day, then abt 24 hrs it all goes away. Like a switch gets turned off. All can be reduced by being super hydrated the day before and day of the shots. And not having a big meal the day of the 2nd shot. And an ice pack on the injection site. Both my shots itched & I did a burn spray on it and that took care of that, mild fever, that’s it. Hubs had distinctive side effects but really would have been a better idea NOT TO HAVE gotten spicy take out for dinner afterwards.
I was on the J&J trial (got the placebo so ended up getting Moderna) and hubs is on the Pfizer trial (he got the actual vaxx last Aug & Sept & getting a booster this summer) and the discomfort for a couple of days is nothing, NOTHING, compared to seeing your friends w Covid hospitalized on a vent or very ill and then having a post Covid stroke and being in perpetual brain fog to the point that they have had to resign from their job. The shots may make mom & you uncomfortable for 2 days but a Covid will kill her and likely leave you debilitated enough for a while to the point that you cannot care for her.
all this waffling on getting vaxx reminds me of Eddie Izzards “Cake or Death” sketch….. folks are all into the minutia on cake, like what flavor?, how big of a slice? does it come with ice cream? when the alternative is death. Death. Get the vaxx, it’ll be the best piece of cake ever.

My daughter moved to Denver shortly after graduating from LSU. Her company just started going back into the office. They voted on a flex schedule. She will be working Monday ,Tuesday and Wednesday in office and Thursday and Friday at home. She loves it!
My husband is doing the same here. His office is in the warehouse district and they opted for a flex schedule. He doesn’t see any of them working full time at the office ever again.
It is upsetting that the new variant is more contagious. Hubby and I got the Modena shot.
The Make a Wish foundation is requiring all family members including the terminally ill child to be vaccinated to participate in the make a wish. Talk about a screwed up world. These kids are going to due so why is this foubdation that is supposed to make a kids final wish before dying come true requiring them to be vaccinated?
Sad to say but we are genie pigs. These vaccines have not been tested long enough to know how they will or won't work. COVID was a new virus, no one knew how to treat it. Many died because of it. It was hit and miss. We were asked to take precautions, wear a mask. There were those that thought it was all a hoax. So wouldn't abide by the CDC guidelines. As soon as last Summer arrived people said "hell with this" and started traveling. I wonder if these people had stayed home and followed guidelines if we would have lost as many people last year.
We are still in a pandemic. We are going to be for a while yet. Even vaccinated, we should still take precautions. It has been said that there are no guarantees. All they know is we need to do what we need to do to stop it. My BIL is a Dr. of Immunology and has had his shots. My DH and I had our second one last Friday. None of us so far has had any side effects.
And of course we are each free NOT to take the vaccine. As with all vaccines, best discussed with your doctor, then make your informed decision and on you go. I DID have side effects after the second shot. Felt like flu for 24 hours. As to affects in the future? Something WILL be happening in future as I am 79. Whether it has anything to do with Covid-19 vaccine or not remains to be seen. I would say we a WILLING guinea pigs. At least that applies in my case. Not only willing, but THRILLED to have had my shot some months ago, and .to now feel so free. My City of SF is way up on this getting the vaccine. As a result voted number one for vacationer visits. Can't tell you how thrilled I was to get the vaccine (as I was for shingles; now have a FB friend suffering it over his entire back and in excruciating pain). I will take my chances with Western Medicine. Flawed it may be.
