I work at an assisted living facility which is widely known for bullying and harassment of workers and usually getting residents under false pretenses.

I work in this assisted living facility and at 10 pm I need to leave to work at another facility. Now I have been bullied here by a group of people who have added more people to it .They have written me up for unreasonable things and blamed me for things that are out of control. Here it's normal for me to have a med tech snap at me and command me rudely to "get out right now or go there right now ".The RCA ,the EO ,the med techs are part of this group. They won't give me my requested days off ,leave and even right me up for beingbsick. But make it easy for othersNow since a new ALD has arrived and as per prior arrangement I was supposed leave at 10 pm to work at another facility .Now they demand tht I stay and go room to room ,open doors turn on the lights ,open.up briefs to show that they are dry .My last round is at 9pm.So now we are supposed to change resident 45 minutely ,wake them up from their sleep .All this so that I cannot leave at 10 pm.Manu residents have said that they do not want to be disturbed and once they wake up it hard for them to go back to sleep. The head med tech and RCA have told the med tech to make sure I'm going all my assigned rooms and doing this and she has to follow me and make sure that this happens .If I don't turn on the light and open.briefs ,the med tech will come and demand that I have to do that becsue the head med tech has called her and has asked her to make sure that I do this .The AlD keeps saying that it's to maintain cleanliness and safety if residents .Like this is someone's home and it's their right to.keep it messy. Not our job to force our personal belief on residents.
I don't know why we are waking sleeping residents and also changing them hourly. If the brief has a little bit of pee ,we leave it till after 2 hours .
I feel like the residents are harassed in the name of safety check and resident safety. This is wrong and it feels wrong right down to my bones. I feel sorry for my residents. Many have voiced not wanting to be woken up but I have little choice .They have a right to sleep and not be disturbed and harassed .This is their home and they should feel comfortable

Find Care & Housing
Soooo, quit. Find another job in another facility, try looking into working at a hospital, and leave.

Thank you so much for sharing. I'm a retired private CNA and caregiver (was HR manager for about 8 months but no thanks)... I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Families used to hire me as a private CNA to assist their family members who were in assisted living. I can't even begin to tell you the treatment that I received but from your posting I think you would understand. As soon as you find another position get out of there. They definitely have it in for you. Also perhaps consider doing some private duty in home care... It's much more one-on-one and you can really develop nice bonds with your patients.
I absolutely thank you for sharing with us and let us know how you are doing.

If you have complaints about how your facility is run, call the Ombudsman. It sounds to me like yiu need to find a different job. And how many hours do you work a day? Some States regulate how many shifts in a certain time frame a healthcare worker can work.

Scampie is correct.
You don't seem to have a question for us in all your description of abusive treatment, but that's fine, as certainly we are getting your own side of this, and if you are the chosen victim of a gang of bullies there is little to be done but to leave the situation.
I sure hope you know how needed and valued you are in this day and time. I would leave for other employment. I wish you the best of luck.

Look for another job asap. These jobs are a dime a dozen. You check every two hours. Why wake a sleeping resident. That's what call bells are used for.

You really can’t expect the home to put your needs first before what they deem is necessary hygiene for their residents. Either your next job is going to have to readjust your hours or you’re gonna have to find a new first job. Which like all facility jobs will be hostile to any suggestions you make that they deem not a management idea.

'Not put your needs first' is not the same thing as the end of a shift. Otherwise no-one could ever go home!

We can’t deal with employer/ employee issues. If you aren’t happy, please look for another job. If you think it’s a really serious issue, inform the licensing body as you leave.
