I was told by Medicaid to get reimbursement for what I would pay, taxes, upkeep and bills, I would need to keep immaculate records to get any money back. Even then, not guaranteed.

Just a question, why don't u sell it. Medicaid will put a lean on it and if Mom lives long enough, they will own it. Surprised they didn't ask for it to be sold. You are going to rent and maybe have someone distroyed it. Pay bills and taxes just to have Medicaid take it when she dies? In the next couple of months my Mom will transition into Medicaid. At that time her money will all go to the home. Because of the condition of her home I can't rent it. I can't afford to maintain it so....It will be abandoned. I think you need to run your plan by Medicaid. Renting maybe seen as income for your Mom.

Go to the search box on this site and enter Medicaid Recovery. Also try MERP which is the Medicaid Estate Recovery Program. You will find many threads on this subject.
Remember that all states do not handle Medicaid or Recovery the same. If you list on this post the state where the property is located you might get better answers for your situation. Many opinions here that can get you started but you might want to find a NAELA certified attorney who is well versed in your state laws for Medicaid.
