My grandmother was recently hospitalized because she is no longer able to support her own health due to mental issues keeping her from staying regular with her medications (she forgets she took them, so she keeps overtaking them). As of this moment, no one willing to help her nor are in a financial position to take her in or hire anyone to take care of her. What options do I have to keep her safe?

Tell the hospital there is no where for her to come "home" to
They will try to pressure you into accepting her into your home...don't let them

They must make provisions for her safety....don't let them guilt you into believe that is your responsibility..it is not...it is theirs

This is the best time to have her transferred to a nursing home. Tell the social worker that there is no one able to care for her. Hopefully she has a POA. This is the person who should be handling this.

Is she still in the hospital? You want to talk to the discharge unit about where she needs to be to make it a safe discharge.
