I don't know about going to the ER personally i would feel this is time for hospice. Dr JC says don't feed which is obviously correct but sips of water can be comforting.
Draining the ascites can be done multiple times but it rapidly re accumulates a better idea may be to leave a drainage tube in attached to a bag that you can empty regularly. Prognosis is very poor at this point.

Reno and grandson are right on. A common cause of bloating in GI cancers is ascites (fluid accumulation in the abdomen) which usually can be drained in the dr's office. It's only temporary relief but it does provide improved quality of life. All we say is conjecture. See the doctor.

Good answers. Do not try to get her to eat. She is letting you know there is something wrong. She may have a bowel obstruction. Check into Hospice if you have not already.

How old is grandma and what have the doctors said about her condition. Are they hopeful or just trying to comfort her? You are a very special grandson to reach out for help. If we had more information it would help with the advice. Hope to hear from you again. Hugs to you and grandma

NO do not put more food in when there is bloat!! This is true for horses, cows and grandmas. Grandma is not long for this world. Hold her hand, sing to her, dance for her and play her favorite music.

Too little information to respond with any useful information. Is she on Hospice? What stage is the cancer? Has it metastacized? Havee you asked the doctor what her diet should be? Have you reported the bloating? When is she been seen by medical professionals next? Is she living at home or in a care center?
