What is a good Christmas gift for a caregiver?

id say pills. its why they work in the industry.

Cash. As much as you can give. A weeks salary would be good.

First, check to see what is allowed. Some companies put limits on what employees can receive. Then consider what the caregiver needs and likes. Money, candy, and gift cards to eat at restaurants are always good general choices. Have a wonderful Christmas!

BTW, the size of the gift depends on what is allowed and how long the caregiver has been with you. Also, how much you can afford. If someone had been with me for a short while, I would keep it under $50. (That is more money in Alabama than it would be in NY.) If longer I would just use my judgment on what I thought appropriate.

Cash. And a note to her in a card... letting her know what she means to you... Every little bit is appreciated by us paid caregivers. I not only received a nice bonus this year from the family I currently work for, but also received a beautiful card and cash from the family I was working for last year...!!! For the first time in months... I am not stressed about money....

I wouldn't worry too much about what's "allowed". I think cash helps to seal a special secret between people who respect each other.

If they REALLY can't accept cash (lots of times they can't, risk losing their jobs etc.) then I recommend chocolate (sugar free if diabetic, Gayle's Miracles if needing low fat) and funny movies or comedy CDs. Anything to cheer up the mood!

Our caregiver was also unable to accept cash.. tough luck! She was thilled to get some and a new coffee mug and candy. We aren;t reporting it and neither will she, and she can use it!

Thanks, all..! I ended up giving him some cash, a nice candle, Starbucks gift card, and some "Energy" body wash.. He was happy, but I was happier.. :-)

As an unpaid caregiver for my mother, I would greatly appreciate, cash, I would appreciate it more if I were being paid for my services, not treated as though I were a slave and shown some appreciation.

well theyre gonna take the cash and buy pills so the end result is the same.

Captain, if I didn't love you so much, I'd take your last comment and your previous one as an insult.... I am a paid caregiver...... a recovering addict with 29 years clean, no less..... if I was going to do drugs again, it would be black tar heroine.... and my charges can't afford that... so be nice.... just this one time... lol.... I do love ya ya know!!!!
