The only solution I've ever seen are soft mittens that are held together with Velcro. They're made specifically to prevent people from pulling out various tubes. I have no idea where to get these as I've only seen them in hospitals but if you do an internet search you might be able to find them. Or maybe you can make some of your own? Buy mittens and a roll of Velcro then wrap the mittens at the wrist with the Velcro. Good luck!

In the hospital we used abdominal binders, for the confused patients who would pull at their pegs, and surgical drains. A binder is a bit like a corset. Just a long, wide, flat band of elastic that wrapped about the abdomen and secured with Velcro. It basically just covered their wound dressings and tubes, keeping them out of sight, and hopefully out of mind, and more importantly out of wandering hands. This won't work for a patient who actually know what their doing, and actually intends to get at the tubes. But for the confused and forgetful patients, it worked pretty well. For determined folk, we used both the binder and the mittens.

Maybe she is trying to tell everyone. She doesn't want it and that is why she pulls it. She probably doesn't want to live the way she is living.

Hard to say Kathleen. Hopefully the PEG tube is temporary and the patient is just a bit disoriented. I think Gayle has the answer for now.

Pamstegman this is not a forum of right or wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. My response or yours is not right or wrong. The little this father has said is his daughter is smart and she keeps pulling her peg tube which is not usually temporary. The daughter's mind sounds find. I cannot assume what has happened. When people keep doing something they know could harm them and then repeatedly do it. There is a message there.

There is a student at my school who was always putting out the his G-tube (not sure if that is the same thing as a PEG tube, but it sounds like it). They put a singlet on under his clothes so he couldn't get to it. Maybe that would work The abdominal binders sound less restrictive, but he could get under those..
