Yesterday, I told some family members to be prepared for "the end". Today, my mother is actually doing slightly better than yesterday. Now, I feel guilty as hell for being overly negative and scaring everyone. This could end in two weeks or could go on for months. Has anyone else had this problem?

I understand exactly where you are. It happened to me a good dozen times over a year before Mom died. It is difficult to walk the line keeping everyone accurately informed when there are such ebbs and flows. You are doing the best you can . . . I began to term it in number of hours that she was more clear in her thinking, sleeping, laughing, out with me in the car running errands. I hope this helps. You are in my prayers.

Whenever my hubby is in crisis I do a daily (or more often) email update and send it out to the complete contact list. This only takes two or three minutes, insures that I tell everyone exactly the same thing. And keeps me from endless conversations.
