How do I get started getting my friend benefits for assistance?

My friend asked me if I could take care of him he is 60 yrs old is not receiving any benefits at this time no health insurance nothing. A year and a half ago my friend suffered from a brain aneurysm and had to have a stent put in his head. he needs my assistance he would be living with me. so how do i get started getting him benefits and how would I get paid to take care of him?

Where does he live? No one in the US needs to go without insurance at the present time. If he worked prior to the aneurism he should be able to qualify for disability (SSDI), which will come with Medicare. He will need to talk to someone at the social security office to get this started. Disability can be hard to get, but it sounds like what he needs. There will probably be no pay that would be available for you. In your shoes, I would continue to work and see about a day program for him if it is needed. Good luck.
