I am tired and I am losing my father to these crooks. He is going to DIE there! Not ONE SINGLE Hospital, Convalescent home, Emergency room has the to help. Each one pawning a living human being off, one to another. There has to be SOMEONE or SOMEWHERE in the Medical/Medicare system that cares WHO IS RIPPING THEM OFF!! I am seeing charges on his summary notices THAT NEVER TOOK PLACE! Last night dad called me, he had trouble breathing only to find out ONE OF THE NURSES LEFT A GLOVE IN HIS MOUTH AND...THE NEEDLE FROM HIS IV IN HIS BED!!! WHO! Is accountable for this CRAP! You bet I'd love him home, but he has 10 more days on his antibiotic drip for his infection in his spine. I am AFRAID he won't make it 10 more days! Please! Somebody give me a number to call! Please!

lblnbmber22,
Please post to the forum here on your question thread because forum members can best advise you if they also have the information you gave to me. I can re-post that for you here.
Except for the private message with the facilities' name-I won't post that because the administrators/forum moderators won't allow it.

You said you are afraid...and yes, you will be needing everyone here to support you through this difficult time. Anyone would be having a difficult time in your position. So sorry your Dad is very ill. I have known of a patient who recovered with spinal infection-it took a long time. It is so very awful when staff incompetence has made it worse-you said you are meeting with the director today, Monday. That is a step in the right direction. My prayers are with you.

Every hospital must have a grievance procedure and they will usually have a
"patient-family representative" or something similar who you share your concern with. .

Some of us are familiar with the San Gabriel Valley area

An antibiotic drip can be handled at home with a visiting nurse - I can pass you a terrific home health agency based in your area if you want to send me a private message

In the meantime you may need to spend time with your father while he is in rehab or nursing home assuming it is a short stay while on the antibiotic

Since we don't have much information from you on his overall condition then it is hard to provide guidance

We understand your concern - not all hospitals provide good care - not all facilities provide good care and it is difficult to find someone to listen to you and offer help

We will try to help you as best we can

If you believe your father is in imminent danger then you can call a private ambulance to transport him to the hospital
Arcadia Methodist may be the best choice

In today's world, a doctor can order an R.N., infection control specialist to come to the home daily to administer the I.V. meds. That procedurs is said to be less expensive than in a hospital.

This is an important issue ....please check back in with us, we can maybe walk you through this-it appears there is dangerous neglect.
When you can, get the number of the hospital or facilities' OMBUDSMAN.
Call 211 in your area.

Is there a psychiatric component to your father's illness? Does he have alzheimer's? Did you see the glove in his mouth? Who did you reoort this to? Was it your father that told you? Were you there?

If he cannot pay, if he is medically indigent, there are places that will see him for free. Has hs already been to Arcadia Methodist Hospital?

What happened to his spine? Diagnosis?

You yourself will need to calm down first to make the call.

I do not know if this would work, but I would call 911 for my father and get him out of there right away to save his life. You should not leave him alone, because if what you say is happening now and is credible (not dredging up the past or just about the finances of the whole thing...? ) his life is in danger. Since I believe you that this has happened....maybe call 911, the police. How long has this been going on? Is he on hospice?

How do you leave a glove in someone's mouth?

Did you immediately go to the nurse's station and ask them to explain?

Start by dialing 211.
What is your father's condition, what is his insurance?
Has he been to UCLA?

Okay, I looked at your profile. You live in El Monte, California. I can't help you. I live in Canada but I'm sure more people will read this and be willing to help. Hang on!
