There is a support group for PPA, let me see if I can find its details... National Aphasia Association, do you know about them? They might have some discussions worth reading through.
We had a client with logopenic variant PPA; and during some calls, we could not persuade him to sit down - sort of the opposite problem! It certainly made toilet transfers a heck of a challenge.
Thank you for the insight on a support group...yes is odd esp due to its randomness, but the times it does happen it's pretty clear she's scared for whatever reason...I'm not sure about the commode, I still would have to figure it out for showers
Unfortunately she has ppaFTD so communication isn't effective. Its also not a new condition as it's more random to the point she may absolutely refuse has just tried to put her self to the floor instead of going...may happen all day long that way then may be once a day then may not happen for weeks...if I'm confused & can't figure out the trigger I can only imagine how she feels
As it's an abrupt change in behaviour, report it to her doctor.
Does she have any sensation of falling, can you ask her or find out in other ways? This is not instead of reporting it, mind, it's just extra information that might be useful.

If this is a sudden change in her behavior and mental status, I would start by talking to her doctor and ruling out a urinary tract infection. Those can cause odd symptoms in elders.
