Mary, when my sister had cancer, her oncologist asked if she needed help at home, indicating she could help with that. My sister didn't want any help, so I don't know what could have been done. But I would ask your friend to ask her oncologist.

At that time the American Cancer Society wouldn't help, so I wouldn't consider that organization.

You might contact a local Gilda's Club and ask if they have any suggestions.

Is she by any chance a Veteran, or is her husband a Veteran? If so, there may be help through the VA.

I don't think she has Medicare but I can ask. Yes was hospitalized (cancer). She's currently alone and could use someone a home attendant . She has 2 kids (one works during the day and the other at night), but it's still a strain on the family.

She may be eligible for rehab which would be paid by Medicare for a period of time. Had she been hospitalized?
