You can ask at a Nurses Lending closet or at some AL facilities BUT and here is the kicker. NO one NO place is taking donations now. And no one will accept the mattress. Most people get hospital beds either through Hospice where the bed is rented or some get the bed through Medicare and that then belongs to the patient/family. You can put an ad on your local town's FB page, some towns have a Garage Sale section. Just post and say FREE...and when someone calls leave the bed on the curb. Your other option is to bring it to a metal scrap yard and get a bit of cash for the metal. Or leave it on the curb with your garbage for pick up there are a lot of scrappers that drive around looking for metal
