Forgot to show an IRA account on the Medicaid application. What's the trouble the elderly applicant will get into?

He will need to spend that on their care for Medicaid will stop if the value of the IRA plus what they have in the bank is over 2,000. This needs to be reported to them as a mistake before they catch it themselves and think it was done on purpose.

Has your elder already received Medicaid approval?
I would be concerned they would be denied.

Report it asap and figure out what you will do to spend it down, unless it is quite a substantial amount.
Medicaid will direct you in what you need to do.
