Find Care & Housing
Great answer Countymouse. I can see that noyifying APS could be a harassment tactic - if you think about it, why should other people be able to poke their noses into your business just because you're a certain age? No easy answer to this kind of thing. APS can be a lifesaver, but nasty people could employ it to harass.

I can understand how you feel about people sticking their noses into your business. I wouldn't like it, I don't see why you should either.

But "know your enemy" - and it's not APS. If you're living with a disability, and if your landlord's overcharging you, and if you know that at some point you are going to need more support, it'll be a lot easier to get the sort of help that would be really useful if you're already in touch with them. You'll know which individuals to call, and they'll already know you, and something about how you like to live your life and what sort of options would suit you.

Sorry - to answer your first question - no. APS will actively *avoid* moving you out of your home unless there is some incredibly good reason why they have to, to do with your safety or somebody else's, and they can prove that you are not in your right mind. It would be their absolute last resort. Rest easy.

They don't have to tell you who called them. Someone is worried about you. You don't say how old ur. If APS finds that your needs are being met, than there should be no problem in u staying in ur home. Bills are being paid?

Does it really matter who called them?

As to the why, APS are responsible for the welfare of adults who are vulnerable for all kinds of reasons. If anything bad happens to an unsupported or unprotected adult who is elderly, ill, frail, disabled or anything else, and they'd been told about this person, and they hadn't done anything, it would be their heads on the block.

So, they came round to visit you and checked you were okay. Are you okay? Did they seem concerned about anything to do with how you're living?
