Find Care & Housing
I prefer diapers as pull on breifs are harder to put on and gap some usually causeing leakage. Diapers are easier to change when a person is sleeping and cleaner when taking it off.I noticed when we used to use pull ups that a BM would get messier in pull ups. I do have to say though that your loved one may prefer the feeling of pull ups because it feels more like underwear. In my opinion although we want to maintain their dignity it's ultimately is the caregiver/hygiene that needs to be considered.

When my mom was mobile enough for a walker she used the pull on kind. However, changing one involves removal of shoes and slacks, while sitting on the toilet. That process got very hard to manage for her alone so she started to avoid it. When she had a caregiver it was more manageable but still time consuming. Now in the NH she uses the kind with tabs and the aids can change them easily on the toilet or on the bed without removing any other clothes.
Maybe using a pull on would work ok for bedtime where just a nightgown is worn. Moms roommate does this.

Er...

Unless the lady is also incontinent, then the ideal is an assisted transfer to a bedpan or commode. The slings used for this purpose are designed to allow for toileting.

But assuming that some sort of continence protection is necessary, I'd have thought a diaper would be easier to change than a pull-on, which would also make it more comfortable for the woman (less tugging about).

Why not have a look at some of the product websites and see what would meet her needs best? You might be surprised at the huge range of shapes, sizes and absorbencies on the market.
