She was the one that delayed me getting it. Now I feel a little sleepy and sluggish. I'll explain the situation.
I live an hour and a half from her. She lives in her own home. No relatives to help but brother that lives with her. Knows only next door neighbor who is not friendly and doesn't like to help mom.
She calls me about something else and then tells me she needs some over the counter migrane pills. The drug store won't deliver any over the counter pills unless she has placed an order for prescription drugs. I said to ask my brother to get some down the street at the drug store. A five minute drive from the house. Her response: He may or may not get groseries. He does things when he wants to. So I tell her I will get a bottle of pills and mail it to her. She said OK. This conversation was at night after dark. (I don't drive in the dark). She calls back 20 minutes later and says: It's hard to mail a bottle of pills. I'll see if your brother will do it tomorrow or the next day. I said that it's not hard to mail the pills. But if you want brother to get it fine! She told me she would call the next day. She calls about 1:00pm and says that she doesn't know if my brother will get the pills or not. She hasn't asked yet. He will say they are a waste of money. So, of course I tell her that I will buy and mail her a bottle of pills in the next few days. But tomorrow it's supposed to rain hard at times. With very likely chance of showers in the morning and afternoon. I'm hoping it won't be raining much during part of the day so I can get the pills then mail them. But it's possible that I won't be able to do it until Friday. Then if I can't mail overnight. It will be a few more days before it gets to her. Sorry for such a long post.

Jillian, I think this is the "cant see the forest for the trees" trap. I've been there, and felt guilty because I didn't drop everything to go out and get something that was requested.

Eventually I said I can't get it until I come out next which won't be for x number of days (unless of course it was a prescription med).

I think it's both an issue of the last minute requests as well as your own fatigue level and weather.

Eventually you'll hopefully reach the stage of deciding what's critical and what's not, and allowing the not critical items to be taken care of at an early date but not immediately.

Assuming that the OTC migraine pills don't interfere with any prescription meds she's taking, I would try to offer her a natural alternative to dealing with the migraine, such as listening to music or something calming and soothing, at least until you can get the pills.

It also sounds as if your mother is playing you off against your brother. And unfortunately your brother is making unjustified decisions as to need issues.

Honestly, by the time she gets the pills through the mail her migraine will probably be gone.

If you're involved in her medication management, you might want to check with one of her doctors to see if she/he can write a script for it. Then it could be delivered.

Frankly, though, I think if it's not the migraine pills it will be something else. I think this is more of a personal manipulation than need for the pills.

Hadnuff, I know how you feel. My Dad always waited until a bottle of meds was empty before he would tell me. Then it would be "if you are going by my the eye doctor's office, could you pick me up a bottle of vitamins". Eventually I did go but it wasn't for a few days, but I picked up 3 large bottles which should last him 6 months :)

Yes, there were some pangs of guilt because I know Dad doesn't drive, but a bit of annoyance because he never plans ahead. My Mom would ask for a refill of her meds when she got half way through a bottle, thus giving me time to plan ahead.

Buy Mom 3 bottles of the migraine meds !!

OTC migraine pills are either tylenol or an NSAID and caffeine. She ought to have some combination to take for a day. If it was Rx and her migraines were severe - the short trips to h*ll that some of us have - yeah, maybe feel guilty, those can't wait, but really? Your other option is to mail-order from Walgreen's online for her.

You failed to perform perfectly??
Be nice to you, forgive yourself.
Feel guilty, but only long enough to find yourself a donut and eat it.

I'd make sure they aren't the kind of pills you have to sign for at the pharmacy. Those are limited as to how many you can buy per month. She might need something else.

Fill a prescription, any Rx will do, then the pharmacy will deliver the OTC migraine med. OR, ask the doctor to Rx a medication.
