He lived in a personal care facility and the monthly charge is slowly decreasing these assets. Two questions he is retired from the Rail Road so has RR retirement and some Social Security. Does the RR retirement count as income? Also was the bill passed which now put in a 3 year look back? He is 93 but fine even is he lives for 3 more years would it be wise to file for Aid and Attendance now or wait till closed to when his assets are lower?

You need to contact someone like American Patriots. I believe they can set up an irrevocable trust, that sets him up to receive VA moneys. We had started on doing if for Dad, but he passed before we completed the paperwork.

yes railroad retirement counts towards income. Medicid is administered by each state. Do a computer search for Medicaid look back rules for 'state'. You should get the info there.

Last I knew there was a five year look back for Medicaid. I had heard about a proposal to make it seven years.
