Please help. Is this a sign of dementia or something else. He is making her very uncomfortable and I just learned about this. We do know that he has an obsessive crush on one of my brothers friends that is 42. How do I handle this situation. He lives with us as does my daughter. I feel that he needs to go to the doctor and be evaluated. While he gets around ok he can't cook, pay bills, remember to take proper meds etc. Any thoughts and suggestions will be welcome.

Thx. Unfortunately we are also dealing with my daughter who had recently been in a relationship with what. All the out was a 21 year old young man that turned out to be a 41 year old legal pedophile. It resulted in a by nasty situation and in court. At the time she had just turned 18 and is still trying to work through the emotional damage done by this person, I've tried talking to Dad but he just denies it, although I have witnessed what she is referring to. I don't know that he would ever actually act on this, but he's not really of sound mind right now. Unfortunately if this continues I may have not other choice but to place him in a AL facility which I have been trying not to do. Every day is a new challenge.

One christmas after dad moved in here he was convinced that my niece ( who was here with her boyfriend) was flirting with him and we could NOT convince him otherwise, so we just let it go... Harder for you as daughter lives with you all. I think it is part of the disease and the fact they still think they are much younger than they are! Just keep reminding him his granddaughter this, and his granddaughter that... An evaluation may help you.. but it will probably not change this behavior
