Hello everyone,
We are taking care of my father (92) at home. He suffers from chronic kidney disease and heart disease.
In October 2020 he was in the hospital with acute kidney failure. Due to COVID-19 the whole station was put on lockdown and they didn't do any physical therapy. As a result he has declinded to the point he is bedridden/ sitting on his bed. His bloodwork (especially kidney) improved greatly though.
Since last week my dad always starts screaming/ howling whenever we want him to sit up, drink or eat. Whenever we ask him whether he is in pain or not, he says he is not. He can't tell us why he is doing that.
Whenever he is sitting up he mentions that he wants to lie back down. Which we of course let him.
Today he was screaming so loud I was afraid someone was going to call the police.
We don't know whats wrong with my dad. His bloodwork is ok. He has trouble with hearing and is pretty forgetful. He is not diagnosed with dementia, but could it be dementia setting in?
His doctor was here and examined him. He mentioned that a recent bad episode of consipation could have led him to be like that and that we should wait for a few days. The doctor doesn't recommed extensive examination at a hospital for now due COVID-19.
Has anyone ever dealt with something similar?

I already ordered a anti pressure/ulcer pad for him and am in the process of getting a hospital bed for him. I reached out to a couple of hospice services but to be honest all of the services the offer are already covered by us/doctor.
My dad gets his meds two times a day, we change his diapers, give him food and drink and we talk to him. He sleeps a lot and is content when he is in his bed. He is not on any medication at the moment that would require a nurse to come by every day. But I will ask the doctor if he ran recommend a service that would benefit my dad.
