Any experience with door alarms?

My husband, 75, has vascular dementia for about 5 years and has started going into the garage and getting into the car "waiting for me" even though we aren't going anyplace. I know this is the beginning of "wandering". Does anyone have experience with door alarms? If so, recommendations please?
