julierdg,

I'm not sure the answer if an ex-wife can receive Veteran benefits to help with long term care; however, here are some articles written by AgingCare.com editors that might help answer your questions.

There is a program called AID and Attendance through the VA. It is paid either to the spouse or if the spouse cant manage their own money, it will be paid to the caregiver.

If they were divorced, no (unless it can be proved that the divorce was a result of some form of abuse). If the she was married to the veteran and he passed away while still married, then yes.
