My wife and I are over 80 years old and need an "end-of-life" plan. How do we do that?

To be honest, this should have happened when you retired.

Get your DPOAs in order. Bring your Wills up to date. Downsize, don't make it someone elses job to clean your house out. House too much for you, sell and get a nice apt. Maybe in a senior community where there are different levels of care. Independent living, Assisted Living and Longterm care. Have everything with a beneficiary. Even your bank account can be POD, paid on death. Having beneficiaries there is no probate. Make the lives of those who may care for you or have to take care of things after your passing, easy as possible. Call your office of aging and see if they can help you or give you names of resourses that can.

My Mom owned a 125yr old farmhouse. I so wish after Dads death she had sold it. The money she profited would have offset her living in a nice apt. No, she had it till her death. I live in the #1 State for high property taxes. That money she spent alone would have helped her get a nice apt.

Make an appointment with your doctor, they will fill out the forms with you. Depending on your doctors office they might refer you to the hospital/healthcare groups social worker who will do the same.
