my husband passed away sept 30 2016, i am his wife and was his main caregiver, i distributied his medications, Dr appt. and so on he was on oxygen therapy, and was housebound, i worked 40 hours a week came home everyday for lunch and took care of all his needs, he is gone now and i miss him, but always thought i had two jobs and then some.

Sorry sparks, but every government program expects the spouse to give care as part of their marital vows.

My reason for asking is because my husband was a veteran getting a small pension and I was reading it saying you can get additional for being the caregiver

First, my heartfelt sympathy for the passing of your husband.

Sorry, I don't know of any government program that would pay a spouse for caregiving. In fact, vast majority of grown children are not paid for caring for their own parents.
