Looking for an electronic magnification device for my elderly mother. Can anyone suggest any?

a model called the alladdin should be available online. vision - aid is another. low vision stores that sell them will usually have some good used ones for sale. these are the overhead projector type and they work very well. somewhere online you can find one that hooks to a tv and is shaped like a pc mouse and only about 3 hundred. its called something ? max. its full color and amazingly effective but you cant write using it for obvious reasons. its a mouse with no clearance between it and document. just google up low vision stuff and find a store in your area.
