Why are elderly obsessed with the price of everything?

Churchmouse, I think you solved the mystery of why we are seeing so many one liners in the Question que. They think they are in the "Search For" section.

GIJoe, if you look at the three horizontal parallel lines to the left of AgingCare.com on the blue bar above, and click on them, you'll get a drop-down menu with the Search box at the top.

It isn't obvious, and I'm not sure why it's been designed like that. Sigh. I've got to the age when I hate it when things get "improved..."

gijoe, if an elder was a child of the Great Depression they sometimes are obsessed with prices. I know my parents were.

There is a positive side to being real concern about prices, that person isn't going to shop until they drop. They will only buy was is necessary. I am the same way. Only recently I got rid of my 30 year old RCA tube TV. And my vehicle is a 20 year old Jeep, which I will drive until the wheels fall off because I enjoy driving it.

The downside is trying to bring in caregivers because of the hourly rate, or moving an elder to Independent Living or Memory Care. The monthly cost is WHAT???? Not paying THAT.
