Hi.
I have question about rehab center payment...
My spouse for some reason he back to hospital and the physiotherapist think he is not participate so they suggest him go to long term nursing home.
But to me I will like he go short term do the threapy and back to basic line than we can go home.
So we find a rehab they said we still can do that but we have out-of packet fee(my spouse have medicare/medicaid) for about $500
he stay in rehab for 3-4 days and he sick again and send back to hospital to stay for about 3-4 days.
we just back to rehab...and I just ask the rehab's financial.
they said in these days they hold the bed for us so these days still will charge.
I dont feel right...I mean we didnt get any service but still charge?
here is my question...if living in rehab for medical leave for few days still charge is that make sence?
thank you.

It doesn't make sense to ME, and it doesn't make sense to YOU, but it seems it does make sense to them. I don't know what kind of contract you signed. It seems to me that if the assessment of the place was that your spouse is not making progress, this is a waste of money and it will be enormously expensive. I would sit down at once with these folks and see what all this is going to cost, and to what point. I am so sorry, but usually they know what they are talking about when they say that they cannot make progress. If you are self pay I am very worried about it for you.
I also find it very difficult to believe they held a bed for you when they cannot conceivably have had any idea whether you were coming back at ALL or not.
I would ask for the contact for an ombudsman for this issue. Or at the very least a social worker. Problem here is that no insurance is involved so you can't report it to medicare or medicaid or anything in so far as I know.
