My mom (age 78) with dementia was in the hospital last Friday with pneumonia. She was treated and released. However, on Saturday morning she wakes up and can't lift her head. And she's been crying in pain for a week now whenever she tries. I've searched the dropped head syndrome which seems to be rather common, but nothing is said about pain. And heating pads and tylenol are not helping. Has anyone had this happen? Thanks

You should have a doctor look at her and perhaps run some test on her neck.

A week is a long time. I think I’d have her to her primary dr.

Did you call her primary with this new symptom after the pneumonia was diagnosed? Neck pain is a very serious symptom. Please call her doctor today.

Pneumonia bacteria can sometimes lead to more serious infections, like meningitis. I'm not saying that's what it is, but this is potentially very serious.
