My mom had a stroke (Right MCA Infarct) in July 2016 which has left her with dome left-neglect. Although she has improved greatly (physically) she still struggles with lefthand mobility and cognitive issues. For example, when she does things from her right side, she does very well but when she does things with her left hand or from her left side, she gets confused. Does, exercising and continuing to make her do her own dressing, bathing, etc. (even having her start over when she puts her clothes on wrong) help her cognitively?

She should be allowed to do as much as she can without too much frustration. There are crochet hooks with easy grip handles. She maybe able to do a simple stitch and make potholders, preemie blankets or dishclothes. Since her stroke was a while ago, ask Doctor for a physical therapy order. Medicare allows therapy every so many months.
