My Mom had Peripheral vision problems in her left eye. Tests were done to see if she had a stroke, she didn't. It was determined it was the Denentia. When she walked, she went off to the left.

I think interesting in terms of research, but because a lot of eye exams are subjective, and those with dementia cannot participate in subjective stuff, I think will take some time to research. They do say there is a way to assure that you "may" be more prone to dementias, and closer to death. And that's balance. Lower brain control. And seems a bad indicator. Sorry to say my balance sucks, but at 81 if I got today no one will say "Oh, dear. The poor thing died so YOUNGGGGG".

Interesting article.
What might also be happening is that the information that eye takes in may take a while for the brain to interpret. So What I see now might not "register" for 30 to 60 seconds. If that is the case then it is easy to miss a step, a turn, or who that person was that just said Hi.
And as the article mentions other health related factors enter into the equation.

I don't know about dementia causing blindness, but it can cause a variety of eye issues as discussed in the article linked above.

Good luck to you.
