Mother is in nursing home in Salem, Misourri, her late husband died. Her children live in Texas. A court gave guardianship to a stranger that is employed by a lawyer, instead of her family in Texas. Does this Guardian get paid extra money for being her guardian? And since her late husband is a Veteran, would that guardian get any of that also?

In my experience guardians get paid by the time they expended, at a specific hourly rate. I don't know though how courts or the guardians set their rates, but also in my experience, court appointed guardians aren't cheap.
