My 100 y/o mom has a generic rental bed that's 80" long. It only fits in one place in her room, which is convenient for bathroom access. I've been searching for over an hour for rental of pediatric/youth hospital beds. I called Apria, her current provider. There's nothing out there and I live in San Diego, not exactly a small city. Does anyone have any suggestions because I can't believe I'm the only person who needs one of these.

Generally when a doctor orders a Hospital bed for an adult they will come in 2 "standard" lengths a normal one and a long one. the one you have is a long one. They would simply have to remove the added bottom part and replace the mattress with a 72 inch one.
If you talk to the doctor and ask them to order a "youth" hospital bed I think they will come up with one.
The ones I found on line come 62 to 72 inches in length. That 72 inches is the same as a regular hospital bed.
The only problem you might have is the width. the width of a youth hospital bed is 30 to 33 inches. That is not very much room for an adult to move.

I'm going to suggest you ask for an occupational therapist consult, they can evaluate your home and should be able to help source what is available, they'll probably also have lots of other helpful suggestions for things that can make caregiving easier.
