It's a different level of care. Some people in my mom's memory care were incontinent, others were not. My mom was and incontinence care was an extra $500/month.
It covered not only the supplies, which aren't cheap, but the additional labor. It seemed perfectly fair to me. I wouldn't have wanted to subsidize someone's higher level of care if my mom didn't need that same level.
Yes, the resident supplies their own personal needs. Its like going to an apartment to live. Difference is you can get help with your ADLs. And since the resident pays for their personal needs, the staff cannot "borrow" for another resident. This is stealing.
Nursing homes are different. Depends, wipes, toothpaste, etc is provided by the facility. Cost is in the room fee.
All her personal toiletries are provided by me. I use her funds to purchase. Depends, toilet paper, deordant, toothpaste adult washcloths for touch ups, flushable wipes. Her rent includes her room, medication management, assistance with bathing and dressing, changing linens, house keeping, laundry, activities and meals.
I do bring her some special snacks like her dove chocolate to keep in her room.
Some days they earn every cent because she is not happy with bathing and changing and is prone to hitting and yelling. Otherwise she is fine, Jekyll and Hyde.
Yes, my mother has to pay not only for Depends, but for incontinence supplies the staff uses on her behalf while she lives in Memory Care, like gloves and chucks. Goes with the territory. If the supplies were 'included' in the monthly rent, the monthly rent would be higher, in the 'nothing is free' category of life.

She is part of the palliative care of Hospice. This comes before the active dying portion.
Hospice covers these supplies for my mom.
Perhaps your Loved One might qualify for Hospice. Something to look into.
