My mother is 101 but has all of her mental faculties. She resides in a Board and Care home. The staff is excellent at providing all of her physical care but do not do any activities with the residents.
We tried the Library of Congress Talking Books program for my mother, but she hated audiobooks. You might have more luck with your mom, plus the books and the player are all free and shipped directly to her.
If she can handle a recorder, get her to record life stories. She must have a motherlode of them.
Unfortunately, if her place doesn't do any activities, then she can't even listen in on what's going on. That's terrible, because it's so isolating.
Is she very blind or can she read things if large enough?
- audio books - tactile activities/games (like guessing the spice, or feeling something hidden in a bag) - appropriate exercise (my 100-yr old Aunt pedals on a portable exercise machine while watching tv... 30 minutes or more every day.
