My 95 year old Dad lives with me and is in basically good health. He keeps having these "attacks" of heavy breathing, pressure in his chest and neck/back aches. He wants me to call 911 to take him to the hospital. The EMTs come and check him out from head to toe. His vitals are excellent. He insists on going to the hospital, where he is checked out and then released. This last time, they wouldn't take him due to covid-19 and emergency room policy. My husband wants me to put him in assisted living, but there isn't anything wrong with him.
Find a good AL near enough to you to visit frequently and at odd times of the day, and don’t look back.
He’ll be safe and comfortable and have much more to keep him busy and off his phone, which he hopefully won’t be permitted to have anyway.
Some good ALs will allow a month trial (not sure during Covid). Take advantage of it.
Does he have a primary care physician? Start there. You may be referred for a caridiology workup to rule out angina, an aneurysm and other heart related issues. A workup by a geriatric psychiatrist in case this is anxiety related would not be out of place. GI to rule out hiatal hernia.
