Does anyone have experience in move to IL for Medicaid? We are currently looking to apply for Medicaid in a Facility for my Mom in TX. We would then attempt to move her to the Chicago Area , where there is family, and then apply for Medicaid in IL. Her resources would probably be exhausted before she is able to move to TX and family funds would be used in the interim in IL till she got Medicaid Approval. We are considering doing private pay in TX until she can be moved to IL. We would then Start Medicaid application in IL after identifying a facility that would accept Medicaid Pending (not sure term) where there would be private pay until Medicaid Approval . Is there an organization in IL that we should contact for this information?

I’d suggest you move her now to IL and into a NH that accepts Medicaid. So she’s private pay at the NH till her funds run out and then applies for IL Medicaid. She’s NH & not AL, right?

During this interim, you do whatever needed to make mom clearly a resident of the state of Illinois. Like her banking and SS, other income sources go into a bank in IL. IL drivers license or ID issued. Taxes filed. Whatever to show she’s all about Illinois.

TX Medicaid for my mom took almost 6 months to get though and get the eligibility letter. If there’s a glitch or other eligibility issue, it could take longer. How much $ / how many months of private pay can she do?

Thanks for the response.
SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION I meant to say Her resources would probably be exhausted before she is able to move FROM TX and family funds would be used in the interim in IL till she got Medicaid Approval. She is currently in a Texas Skilled Nursing Home ( non Medicaid) and WILL BE MOVED TO A MEDICAID AVAILABLE FACILITY IF ONE CAN BE IDENTIFIED IN ILLINOIS. The title of the question is correct, but the explanation of the details is incorrect .

I have been reading about so many difficult situations in identifying a facility and finally obtaining approval, that I was looking for an easier path, if possible.

I attempted to modify my original post, but I can not find out how to do it. I might have to re submit a clearer question.

Visit the state’s website and search how to enroll in Medicaid. There may be an issue of a minimum residency in the state she is applying for Medicaid in.
She will have to apply for Medicaid in any state she lives in as state requirements are different. She’ll move from wherever she lives now, to Illinois and then Texas? That’s three different applications.
