There is a man in our local caregivers support group, who's wife has had Huntington's for about 30 years now. Both he and his wife are now in their 70's, and he has been by her side this whole time, as she continues to decline more and more each year. It's a horrific disease, that very slowly over time, affects a persons movements, along with cognitive decline. I hope and pray that your husband does not have it.
Evaluated? It's a genetic condition, I'd have thought it would be comparatively straightforward to establish whether or not your husband is affected by it. I hope that this is perhaps something that's just being formally ruled out.
For definitive diagnosis neurological, genetic and psych, evaluations are required. Also a head CT and MRI. These evaluations are also required for staging. Early symptoms also mimic other diseases.
My brother has a lady friend with Huntington’s. She’s in her late 50s. She keeps busy with her young grandchildren, especially since Covid she has helped with their home schooling. I know she is no longer able to cook or live independently. I’m not sure if that’s doctors orders or her children’s preference. They seem to be very supportive.
