My mom is increasingly becoming incontinent. I don't mind doing a few extra loads of laundry. Every time she has to pee she dribbles for a long time afterward, sometimes requiring 2 Depends changes a session. She has a pressure ulcer on her hip that doesn't help. Some of it might be because of her fussiness. After I pull up her Depends, she has to stand and fiddle with them, then it starts all over (gravity is not my friend). The second and worse part of it is she gets frustrated and cusses, screams, yells, and carries on like a 3 yo. There is no consoling her after she starts. I'm at wit's end as to how to alleviate the discomfort and attitude. She doesn't have dementia which makes me feel worse. I saw an ad for the Pure-Wick system, she has a visiting nurse coming Wednesday and I'll ask her, just wondering if anyone has firsthand experience with it. It sure would be nice to get a peaceful night's sleep, but it is what it is. Thank you all.

I have used the purewick system since I brought mom home in 2019.

We had used it in the hospitals after her stroke - and when I brought her home all I did was change her and do laundry (all day every day) about a month in I found out they had a home system and since I have never looked back.

If mom is in her wheelchair or up and out for the day then ofcourse it cannot be used.
But she uses it overnight and anytime while in bed. It has really made such a difference in her skin integrity. Most nights it absorbs 90 plus percent and she is mostly dry in the am. My mom does sleep on her back and still wears the depends at night and the depends helps it stay in place.
Though my mom does have left side hemiplegia (she is very active on her right side and small amounts on her left side) so she does move around a lot and it does stay in place. Sometimes if she had a home therapy and moved around extra amounts- I will have to adjust it but mostly it does stay in place and I would highly recommend seeing if it was a good fit for your mom.

I have paid out of pocket since 2019 (it had been finally approved by Medicare this year but it was reversed and no longer approved as they are requesting more research and studies be done on it).

I believe the pump system (is or was when I purchased it) $500 then 30 of the “wicks” are $195 and the hose and canister are $25.00.

I use about 40/60 wicks a month if mom is in bed some of the day then overnight we use 2 a day (you may only use 1 a day for overnight).
the tubes/canister set should be changed out every few months. I ordered 3 canisters as I just always have a back up canister while I’m soaking/washing the another one.

So once your set up - you would spend at least $200 on the wicks a month and an additional $25 every 3 months to switch out the tube/canister set. If it’s affordable for your mom - I highly recommend it as it has been a blessing for my moms skin as well as a relief for me not having to change her so often.
Good luck hope it help your mom as well.
