Find Care & Housing
My LO tried to EAT shaving cream. Also dead leaves, his arthritis skin salve, flowers, and soap. Also his trifocal eyeglasses (crunch crunch crunch). Also managed to eat paper napkins. We don't know how many.

It may be time to start dressing your LO in special clothing that they cannot remove on their own. There is specialty clothing for people with dementia like jumpsuits they cannot take off on their own, and pants that have velcro fasteners in the back so they ccannot access their diapers. Look online and see what you like.

Or you could do the tried and true homecare CNA trick and you only need three things.

1) A roll of duct tape

2) a pair of rounded-tip bandage scissors

3) A diaper

Duct tape the outside waistband of the diaper. They won't be able to do anything. When you have to remove it, use the rounded-tip bandage scissors to cut the duct tape away.

That is very smart! Thank you.

That's one of the unusual behaviors that can occur with dementia. Hide the shaving cream.

Yes, and watch for other things that might be tucked in; I have observed people are capable of great variety in things they can tuck into odd places.
