From my age of 12-30, I never had any contact with her. I was in 3 foster homes and an orphanage from age 12-20. As a Christian, I have tried to make amends over the last 25 years. She is almost 74, I am 55. All this stress is making me sick. She has used me over and over, but I am done! She is in an assisted living facility, and her "wants" are never ending, she always wants more things. Its always been all about her. This is coming out of my pocket. My husband works in textiles, I am a pre-K teacher. We can't afford this. I have counseled with my pastor for the last year. he agrees I need to cut ties before she sends me to an early grave.

Yes, break all ties, she is using you. Notify the facility that you will no longer be involved, or provide financial support. Hopefully you did not sign agreeing to pay her bills. If you did, see a lawyer.

"No mom, I can't do/afford/manage that". Listen to your minister.

This is not my analogy, I read it here but I've always thought it was one of the most brilliant comparisons I've ever read - Put your own oxygen mask on first, then assist others around you on the plane.
